Getting a mediation started is one of the most difficult parts of the process. Referral forms not returned, no-shows on the day, parties not engaged or committed to the process early on, difficulties connecting with the parties in individual sessions whilst screening for domestic abuse and coercive control.
So pocketmediationintake now not only automates all this for you, but also primes the parties to engage with the process more constructively before they enter your mediation room.
I will work with you to create a bespoke, dedicated page, hosted by me at no extra cost, taking the hassle out of capturing mediation clients' information and preparing them to mediate constructively. Once you're happy with the page, you are free to send it to every one of your mediation clients. They go through the process and submit their information. You and they get a secure PDF direct to your inbox. pocketmediationintake does it all for you, so all you need to do is contact the clients and arrange their first meeting!
how can it help me?
Less clients lost at the beginning of the process, together with clients being primed for contructive engagement, means more uptake, higher success rate, and ultimately enhanced reputation and fees for you as a mediator. This innovative little tool pocketmediationintake minimises your time spent capturing details, begins to peel for you the surface of the conflict, and gives you the best chance to make the parties experience in mediation more fruitful.
how long will it take for my page to be ready?
At the moment I am looking at two working days from order to completion, at which point you can revise your page as necessary and add in any details you like until you're ready for it to go live. Once it's live, you are then free to send it to every mediation client looking to you for help.
how much does it cost?
The tool is a one-off cost of £49 GBP. Click here to convert that to your own currency. For this you receive lifetime access to the page, a bespoke branded page hosted by us at no extra cost, unlimited support, confidential records, and regulatory compliance. I hope you agree that it will be a sound investment for a relatively small cost that could be recovered with your next mediation fee.

Thanks for asking!
So this site's built by me, Scott Docherty, and thanks so much for spending some time on it. I'm a solicitor, former mediator, and Partner in the Dumbarton office of McArthur Stanton.
I was formerly accredited by the Law Society of Scotland in family mediation, was a convener of CALM Scotland, a member of the Family Law Association, Vice Chair of Scottish Mediation (and Chair of its Promotions Committe and Peer Mediation Working Group), and was the first lawyer mediator in Scotland to be trained in direct consultation with children in family mediation ("child inclusive mediation"). I was also a member of the Family Mediation Accreditation Panel of the Law Society of Scotland.
For CALM Scotland, I created and managed its website, operated all social media accounts, recorded the #videoCALM & #audioCALM interviews you can access on the site, and also advanced training and the use of online mediation for mediators, and child-inclusive mediation where that would be appropriate.
My first book was How To Talk To Your Kids About Separation, and, if I ever get the finger out, I'll finally get around to completing the process of writing a follow up book on resolving issues with your ex after separation, as well as another on my journey in the world of conflict engagement.
For more on this please follow me online @pocketmediation, or get in touch using the form below, and many thanks for showing an interest in my work!
Why yes, thanks so much for asking. You can connect with me by clicking these links, and I look forward to engaging with you soon!

2020 is witnessing the birth of this little site, a concept which is truly innovative in conflict resolution. I'm busy tweaking and twirling behind the scenes, creating for you a new way to resolve disputes. The basic idea is that if you’re in the midst of a conflict, or you’re intervening in others’ conflict, and you land on this site, you’ll have two options:
First, you could access a mediator more quickly than ever before to sort things out, making payment and verifying your identity online with ease. The mediator will be able to connect with you via messaging or a video call, and as swiftly as possible will look to help you and the person or company you’re in conflict with.
Second, and this really is a huge ripple in the pond here, I'm working on a way for you to sort things out yourselves on the site via state-of-the-art online dispute resolution tools, with access to online mediation if you’re struggling.
So once I'm ready to go live, those in conflict will be able to:
- access real-time help from accredited mediators
- resolve their differences via online dispute resolution (odr)
- save time, money, and stress
- avoid being pulled into courtrooms and lawyers’ offices
- move on with their lives
And to make all this happen, in the background there will be a team of experienced mediators who will be able to:
- connect with other accredited mediators within a dedicated network
- have more effective access to those they wish to help
- build a shimmering online mediation practice
- access a wealth of resources to improve their online skills
- minimise regulatory burdens in identity verification & payment for parties
The first phase of this mammoth project has now gone live. pocketconflictcoach helps those in conflict, or again those helping others in conflict, to get ripe for engagement. Its cutting-edge technology and theory could help you revolutionise your approach to difficult conversations, giving you the best opportunity to make a real go of sorting things out without it getting out of hand.
Also, pocketmediationintake has launched. This innovation cuts out all the nonsense involved in getting a mediation process started. For mediators, it captures parties' details, screens for domestic abuse and coercive control, and prepares the parties to engage constructively. For parties, the hassles are reduced and you get the chance to connect with your mediator as soon as you meet, because the mediator already has a good idea about what you'd like to achieve in the mediation.
And I've now introduced how to mediate online, version 2.0 of our insanely popular legacy course. This new automated version will help you reach the new wave of those in conflict accustomed to talking via online video call. If they are used to talking online, what if you could mediate with them online?
the future's so bright, you gotta wear shades!
Right now, therefore, I'm hard at work pulling all of this together. By the time I'm done, this website will be packed with all the tools you need to sort things out in one place. If you're in any sort of conflict, learn how best to engage with it, get the right support you need, and move on to enjoy life!
So reach your hand in, grab your phone, and use Mediation In Your Pocket to keep control of your own destiny.
